No doubt many industries, companies and individuals will benefit from IoT, improving standards of living, healthcare, as well as providing new solutions for enabling the enterprise of tomorrow and for addressing global challenges.

As IoT is turning currently passive spaces into thinking and intelligent spaces, becoming an active participant in our lives, IoT requires a level playing field where all players can compete on an equal footing, without gate keepers and locked-in users.

For social acceptance it will requires an ethical and legal framework, supported by technology, as well as a new legal definition of privacy so we can balance security and resilience with end-user programming, convenience and innovation.
