The theory behind biophilia is that humans are intrinsically connected to nature. There are now many studies which support the benefits of biophilic environments to our health such as hospitals. The Mayo Clinic in the United States have been incorporating biophilic design in their hospitals for over a decade. We now want to explore what biophilic design could do at a city level, what are it’s affects on city dweller’s levels of anxiety, depression and stress. In other words how does biophilic design affect people’s wellbeing and mental health?

This event is co-organised with architect Itai Palti, author of the Conscious Cities Manifesto. The event is part of the Conscious Cities movement which aims to make buildings and cities more aware of the people they serve.
