EAST London – OUR HOOD: Dennis Severs’ House

Less than a minute away from our coworking space you can find the Dennis Severs’ House at 18 Folgate Street. The closest description is a ‘still-life drama’ about what life would have been like for a Huguenot silk weaver / traders family. “Woven through the house is the story of the fictive Jervis family, originally Huguenot silk weavers who lived at the house from 1725 to 1919. Each room evokes incidental moments in the lives of these imaginary inhabitants.”

Over the duration of 20 years, Dennis Severs who resided at 18 Folgate Street, meticulously recreated the ten rooms in the house. Just before his death, Dennis Severs bequeathed the house to the Spitalfields Historic Building Trust, which has kept it open to the public to imagine themselves in another time.

We are delighted that we are so close to such an unusual and unique experience, literally at THECUBEs neighbouring street. And for all you coworkers here, they even offer a Monday Lunchtime events (12 -2pm, last admission at 1.15pm) that last about 45 minutes – a perfect lunch activity.
