em-em showcases the work of seven artists on a residency with THECUBE in East London, in collaboration with MA Art & Science at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London.
The artists aim to bring new perspectives to current dialogues on embodied cognition, building bridges between disciplines. The work on show explores a range of themes in relation to embodiment and emotion, including memory, objects and emotions, sensory perception and colour, gravity, dis-embodiment, and where emotions reside in the body. The artists’ explorations manifest through diverse media including—but not limited to—sculpture, installation, painting on paper and glass and photo collage. THECUBE’s unique multi-level arrangement is a perfect venue to allow the complimentary works to speak to one another across the space, shifting in tone and colour as one ascends to each level.
Come and join us to view the artwork and have a drink!
Participating Artists: Allison Barclay, Monika Dorniak, Julie Light, Jill Mueller, Lisa Pettibone, Virginie Serneels, and Eleonora Sher
THECUBE London is a coworking space in the heart of Shoreditch. We have been hosting artists in our space for the last 7 years, and are excited to be hosting Em-Em from Central Saint Martins for the summer. For the duration of their residency, em-em will be researching and produce work around the thematic of embodiment.
