To Do / To See: Basquiat at the Barbican

We have waited and waited, and finally it is almost here!  In 10 days Basquiat: Boom for Real, the first large-scale exhibition in the UK of the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat is kicking off at the Barbican.

Le Jour ni l’Heure 4323 : Jean-Michel Basquiat, 1960-1988, She Installs Confidence, coll. Yvon Lambert, Avignon, dimanche 4 novembre 2012, 15:19:35 (

This exhibition is drawing from both private collections and international museums, bringing together this Haitian-American artist’s iconic paintings, which are his interpretation of black identity in America. This is the first exhibition to focus on it via the lens of music, text, film and TV, allowing visitors to understand the drawings as never before.

Basquiat: Boom for Real will run from 21st September 2017 to 28th January 2017, and tickets will be between £5 – £16. The Barbican is usually open Sun–Wed 1000–1800 / Thu–Sat 1000–1000. But check their website for any potential changes.
