This week come and visit us for two exciting events as part of the Making In Transit residency by Jennifer Crouch.
The first event, taking place today (08 December 2016 at 6:30pm) will examine all things ICE, whilst the follow up event on 15th December at 7pm will investigate MATERIAL TRANSFORMATIONS, and on the 16th December will examine LIGHT AND SPACE.
8 December – ICE:
Julia from the UK Polar Network will cover the polar ice caps, and Angelos Michaelides (from London Centre for Nanotechnology at UCL) will talk about how ice crystals from a nanoscale. Last but not least Ellie Armstrong will give a talk about the poles of the planet Saturn. These talks will be preceded by an ice making workshop!
15 December – MATERIAL TRANSFORMATION:
This is a seminar on materials. Think bodily matter, biomaterials and the culture of stone/wood/cement. Speakers include Gemma Angel (UCL, Cornell University)examining bodily matter in art, whilst Seetal Solanki (ma_tt_er.org) will be talking about wood, cement, glass. Additionally Rachel Guardiola will be talking about her experiences and materials used while being an Arctic Circle 2016 participant.
16 December – LIGHT AND SPACE:
Annie Carpenter, part of the Arctic Circle Residency in Autmn 2015, Rhianon Morgan-Hatch (RCA and ‘otherworks.co’)and Marina Galand, part of the European Space Agency’s Rosetta Mission, will joins us to discuss their work and research dealing with light and space.
